No. We can go back to a Hunter and Gatherer society. But then only about one in a thousand people would be able to survive. Are you going to be one of the 999 people out of 1000 who give up their lives to live in a sustainable, non-technological world?

Your question requires the acceptance of a false premise. Not all technological developments cause destruction of human lives and none thus far have caused the destruction of the entire environment.

Consider for a moment how you would live without technological developments. You would have to go naked because making clothing of any kind is a technology. You could eat only berries and cereal grains, and you would literally be living from hand to mouth. The only shelter you would have would be fallen leaves. You wouldn't have to worry about it very long, though, because you would not be able to defend yourself against predators.

You are obviously in favor of computers. Have you ever considered how many different technologies go into making them and powering them?
