Drinking a mug of boiling water with a slice of lemon in it first thing every morning is a good (and cheap) way to flush toxins out of your system. For instant treatment, I always used Germolene - it's antiseptic to kill the infection and has a local anaesthetic to numb the pain or itching so you don't touch it and make it worse. Think a tube of it costs about 2 pound in the shops.

The only thing that ever worked for me was Lush's Fresh Farmacy soap and being *gentle* with my skin.

It is generally assumed that spots are caused by excess oil, but in some cases (like mine!) they are caused because the skin is very sensitive; harsh products used to try to get rid of spots will often cause slight inflammation, closing up the openings to pores and allowing the anaerobic bacteria inside to have a field day. If you just leave your skin alone as much as possible, and only use very gentle products on it when you must, it may well help.

If you're a teenager then it's quite normal and will eventually go away, but for now just drink lots of water and eat healthily (friut veg etc). Avoid beer, chocolate, fried foods etc... Crap in - crap out....

That commerical stuff might work a bit - but don't scrub... it might spread the infection. I'm sure when i tried those face cleansing pads and things like that it just made it far worse - it was nothing to do with cleanliness at all...

If you're older then it might not be just down to your hormone levels, then tell your doctor and he can prescribe antibiotics and topical solution that will help kill the bacteria that causes the spots. I was prescribed Zineryt and a tetracycline anitibiotic and its worked ok on my face.... but still not totally cleared up round my neck after a year. Just ask your doc....

Make sure you drink plenty of water. This tends to keep skin clear, although if it's acne, see your Dr! Your diet can also affect your skin so reduce the amount of fatty and greasy food and increase your fresh fruit and veg!
