It was temporary for me. However, I wore industrial-strength bras throughout my pregnancy, and all during my nursing to support the tissue. After all was done, my chest got a little smaller again. The nipples stayed a little bigger than they were previously, though, and a little darker.

Every one is different. I know people whose breasts shrunk after pregnancy and breastfeeding, and were smaller and no where near as firm as before. I went up from a 10D to a 12E and that the size they have stayed. My breasts aren't as firm ( i fed two kids. First for 7mth and second for 10mth) and have some very fine pale stretch marks. Make sure you wear bras that fit properly and support well. While pregnant and feeding I wear a maternity bra in bed also. I think a good bra definately made a difference. I also had mastitis in my right breast with each child, and I have noticed that this has left one breast smaller than the other. Not noticable to anyone but me. Good luck, I hope this is honest enough for you! What you need to really prepare yourself for is the early days of breastfeeding, the first time you pass a bowel movement after giving birth, and the pain of labour! When I was pregnant with my first a friend said to me that after giving birth she felt like she had been kicked in the privates with a football and someone was holding a lighter under each nipple! The most honest and accurate account of childbirth I have heard so far!

Unfortunately, yes it usually is permanent! It's just a part of life! Think about it this way....breasts were never intended to be sex organs! They are there to feed the baby! Unfortunately, the baby doesn't leave them like he found them! If you decide to breast feed, they will stay firm a while longer, but eventually gravity will take it's toll. However, the pay off is you get to be a mommy! And how wonderful is that?

mine swelled through pregnancy and also re breastmilk with my first child i only fed for 3 months, my boobs went back to normal and lil to no sag. @ 19 years, with my second child @22 years i breast fed for almost 3 years, now im 32 years my titties are small and empty bags of saggy skin its awful, my nipples changed lots i have much bigger nipples since having kids. i think it depends on the woman and i do think longer breastfeeding screws ur titties up for real. - but it was well worth it dayum i love my kids
