i am the proud owner of a TYROS keyboard however when i connect headphones the external sounds from the keyboard do not cut off anyone know if there is an easier solution than having to take keyboard for repairs

Lucky you, the look very cool! :) My keyboard it an ancient Yamaha, but it still makes a good sound. Anyway to your question. See if you can borrow a pair of headphones and try them just to make sure its not a problem with the headphones then read your manual and make sure you are plugging the phones into the right hole. Im not taking you for a fool, its easy to do!
If that does not work then its repair...if you try to look at it yourself you could either invalidate your warranty or even worse, completely ruin it. I hope one of the about 2 works for you. Yours enviously....
