I dyed my hair yesterday which was supposed to be a dark brown. It's turned out very, very dark - nearly black! Is there anything I can do to lighten it a little bit?

Hiya, I know it's a bit of a shock when you realise it's really dark, I've done it loads of times! However, it will lighten everytime you wash it, and the process will be sped up by using anti dandruff shampoo, or a purifying shampoo. This will work even if it's permanent. I've dyed it bright red over the top and this helps take off the edge, although I suggest you wait a couple of weeks for it to recover first, or you could really damage it. In the meantime change your makeup to a bit more dramatic, this will help you to not look washed out. Besides, dark hair looks lovely! I hope this helps :)

I read a magazine article yesterday about this and the advice from all the hairdressers was that you can lighten light hair but never lighten really dark hair as this would ruin the condition of it. Their advice was to leave it to grow a bit before trying to lighten it.

Wash it a few times. It will lighten down in time. Try a shampoo that strips products from your hair. It could be that there is still a little excess dye to come out.

Well I'm sorry u got the wrong color, but anyway u could just dye it again. Or maybe go to the beach and sun bake! it will give u a nice tan and lighten ur hair.

Wash your hair a few times with Vosene or an other medicated shampoo it will help to take the dye from your hair, i have heard washing up liquid does the same thing not tried it though xxx.

Don't do anything. The colour will lighten the more you wash it. If you put anymore dye on your hair it will really damage it.

If your hair was a darker colour before, then it will come out dark. Try dying it blonde and then die it back to brown that should work.

if it's semi permanent, try a hot oil conditioner or head and shoulders shampoo.if it's a permanent, the hairdresser can lighten it slightly, but black is extremely hard to lighten.keep it black,I'm sure it looks amazing!

keep washing it in a mild shampoo until the colour fades out,or wash it in a blonding shampoo and that will lighten it a bit :0)
