I define religious tolerance exactly how the prophet(pbuh) and Islamic empires of the golden age dealt with it. I accept all religions, they can educate people about their religion follow their religion all they want as long as there is no form of imposition. Treat them equally in terms of job opportunities and before the law. My thoughts are kind of hazy right now, but you get the idea

in my neighbourhood there r christian and orthodox families too besides muslim ones ......... and we all respect each other. for example, 2 days ago it was eid ......... they all came to pass their best wishes, even their wives and mothers made traditional eid sweets in their homes to show respect. i do the same for christmas and easter. i visit them and i make sweets too (and boil eggs for easter), not because i believe in what they do, but simply to show respect for their beliefs ............ the best policy is shown in surah Al-Qafirun. hey, when i was a kid my best friend was an orthodox priest's daughter and we got along just fine .......... they really respect muslims in such a way that neither christians or orthodox eat pork (in my town at least) nor have i ever been offered to eat any. these r just little everyday examples. when i enter a room where there r christian and muslim ladies sitting i give my selam to all of them and they all answer, coz they have knowledge enough to know the meaning of that word. most of them even keep a copy of Qur'an in their homes, just like i have a copy of the holy Bible in mine too ...... all about harmony i guess. oh, and i have never tried to convert any of them to islam, so i guess it must be the roots of tolerance .......... my 3rd editting :) - i am not an arab ........ y don't ppl stop generalising????

Dear Sakina, see how the phrase "religious tolerance" is an ambiguious and mysterious issue. It means that there is something wrong, however, I am going to overlook it for the time being until later when it is convenient for me to correct it. So, if you are wrong, you will be wrong but I am not going to judge you now. And if you are wrong and I let you go with your wrong, this means I am better than you but this doesn't mean I am satisfied or pleased with you but I am still looking forward to the chance when I can correct you.

For Judi_r8. Muslims are not only Arabic speaking.
There are more non Arabic speaking Muslims then Arabic.
Islam actually protects nonmuslims in thee state and gives them liberty to observe their rituals without any problem.
It is historically proven in the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
We Muslims should follow those teachings of Prophet.

religious tolerance to me means the ability to coexist with people of other religions even though we might have different views. religion is for God and the society is for every one.
i practice it by not disrespecting any one's beliefs and i expect the same from people i deal with.
mutual respect is all i ask.
ps: a little over 20% of the world's Muslims are Arabs. you are right!!!

I'm kinda disappointed why Yahoo's taking a long time dealing with this violator.
One can only hope.

Not a Muslim, but a born again Christian. This is the United States. We are a Christian nation. Why would you want to bring Muslim into this country knowing that it will be objected. We are not against the people, we are against the Koran, as it speaks of beating women and treating them as property. No where does it speak of the Lord God or of Jesus Christ, who teach love instead of hate. My question to you: Why would you as a woman want to subject yourself to such torture? So what if it is "family tradition".
Is it a tradition you really love or is it that you are trying to please someone other than God Himself? Some women in the USA try to be Muslim as a means of attention. The only thing is, is that they get the wrong kind. Sorry, but this is just my opinion.
