Does he want to drink a pitcher a water a day, or just a pitcher of water?
If it's just the latter, then it's not going to help much.
Water is always good for you. So just let him stick with the pitcher of water, but also perhaps he would add another pitcher of milk a day, that might help him gain a little but it's not going to make him fatter..
To really gain weight, pile on the sugars, sweets, doughnuts, cakes etc. Unless he has a hugh metobolism, he should gain a pound or two by the end of the month.
And to think there are countless number of people out there who would drink all those sugar free drinks that will help them lose weight?

No, water cannot add weight. Obviously, temporarily, your weight will increase after drinking a pitcher of water, but since water has no calories, it cannot increase your weight. Drinking lots of water actually tends to reduce weight, because it reduces your capacity to eat generally. Athletes and nutritionists recommend drinking about 2-3 litres of water a day as part of a well-balanced diet.

No, water will not add weight! The body requires at lest 8 glasses of water a day! Remember, over 60% of the body is made up of water, new cells, cleansing and flushing (Urinating).

Water has no nutrients, so will definately not make him fatter. Also, although the water may contribute to his weight, the water is lost when he urinates.
Also, if he wants to put on weight, i think there is a company called Cadbury's...

If he is working out and drinking water, chances are nothing will happen. Your body is already 75% water and also drinking water is good for you but it can also be harmful. He will feel really water logged and throw his kidneys into over drive. He should just increase his calorie intake and lift weights

it is true that the water can blow your stomach, and the 80% of our body is the the water. people drink water for weigh loss, not fo fattening. Every one can make a calculation ,according to his/her wight, how much water should drink per day. Although drinking water is healthy, there still exist a normal limit. 1l - 2l per day is normal. If one weighs 75 kg for example , then one should drink 2.5 l per day
