I don't think the number of drinks you have per day actually matters - whether you feel you need to have them every day should make you think - if you feel you need to have a drink every day I would say you have a problem with drink. If you can't for some reason get a drink and this makes you angry you have a problem - this drug is just like being addicted to any other drug.

If you feel that you must drink to cope with the day, must drink because of an urge, or even must drink just to function, that's when you are an alcoholic.

I've heard that if you drink when you're alone means you're an alcoholic too, but I have no real credible source for that statement.

If you can drink every day and everything is fine, and you are able to stop freely, then you can have as many drinks a day as you want and not be an alcoholic.

I don't think it is the number of drinks a person has, but not been able to stop drinking is the problem. When a person becomes addicted and they no longer have control of when or how much they drink would define the as an alcoholic.

There is no classification for how many drinks makes an alcoholic, as a general rule of thumb, if you think you have a problem, you probably do. If its costing you more than just money, its time to seek help. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking.

What classifies you as an alcoholic is not the number of drinks that you have, but the fact that it is never enough.

Generally, it's not the number of drinks, but what they do to you. If you lose control, spend money you hadn't planned on, have memory lapses or drink when you absolutely told yourself you wouldn't....then odds are VERY good that you've crossed that invisible line and become an alcoholic.

the number of drinks is not the main indicator but your need for a drink every day ,if you cannot get through a day without a drink you are almost certainly an alcholic

I don't think its really about the amount. The threshold of tolerance is different for everyone. It's more about the dependency, in that you absolutely have to have a drink.
