I run an animal shelter for rescued dogs and cats. This place is infested with ticks and I just don't know how to eradicate the problem without using commercial chemical which can be harmful to all 200 dogs here.

I am not very familiar with the uses of neem oil, however, a poster last week said that her vet recommended it for her hamster, as a skin application.

Talk to a vet about the neem oil. I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean much.

You are right in staying away from the strong pesticides. It's usually diluted nerve gas. Bad news.

I like to use diatomaceous earth with my kennel. It kills the bugs (ALL bugs) and is completely non-toxic.

Another possibility if you are away from close neighbors, is a few guinea hens. They are inexpensive, easy to care for, and they will eat every tick they can find. The only thing about them is that they are LOUD when someone comes into their area. But with 200 dogs, the noise probably isn't going to make that much difference.

Neem oil isn't given orally, it is put on the dog. Mix a small amount with water in a spray bottle, you will need to keep shaking it to keep it well mixed, and stay away from the eyes.

I use it for mosquitos in the summer, works great for that, not sure about ticks though. It smells something awful though.
