The people who have answered your question so far are right, it is largely to do with your metabolism.

But fret not, you can do something about your metabolic rate. And no, I don't mean go on some stupid diet where you are miserable all the time from lack of food. And I don't mean eating loads of stuff you hate eating either.

All you simply have to do (and trust me, this DOES work, I myself use this method and used it to shed a stone in weight in a month and a half, without being unhealthy.)

Simply eat little and often. It boosts your metabolism massively! What I generally do is have a good sized breakfast to keep me going, then I will have a little snack at 11 o clock. Then, at 12:30, I will have a modestly portioned lunch. Then at mid-afternoon, another snack. Then a modestly portioned dinner, then another snack at around 8:00pm.

For your snacks, look at what you really enjoy eating, then find a healthy substitute. (this is just in the initial period, when you really start shifting the pounds). See, I always loved eating pringles and jelly sweets. So, for the first few weeks, I substituted those for flavoured rice cakes and raisins. Obviously, you have to find things YOU like eating, but those worked for me.

Eating like this will give you loads more energy, so you will find that you naturally want to be more active, rather than seeing exercise as a chore. You can still eat things like pasta, no problem, just keep the portions small. Divide the dinner up into two, and have half at 6:30 and half at 7:30. It sounds ridiculous, but it really does work.

Good luck girl!

It is usually down to exersize and your metabolism rate. Some foods burn faster than others. Some say that it takes your body 2 days to digest a slice of white bread! So eating the proper foods based on the food pyramid would be a good place to start.
Don't worry, everyone is different. It would be an awful boring world if we were all the same.. My brother is 6ft and can eat all around him and not put a pick on him. He is very fit though and is keen on his exersize, but that doesn't stop him having a nice pizza now and again.
I just have to look at him eat and the lbs are put on. Typical...
There are lots of diet methods on the internet but may not be suitable for everyone. I would suggest a dietician. They would plan out a diet especially for you and you only. This would give you more energy to do some exersize and you will not just look great but feel great also.
Good Luck...

Im the other way round, I can eat for england but still not put on weight. but then again i eat lots and snacks very often. I also used to play lots of sports which kept me active.

it could be the metabolisim, but it also depends on your eating patterns. Never have a big meal before you go bed as your body does not have time to break it down and use the energy produced. Instead it will sit there and turn to fat whilst you are asleep. Also try to eat little snacks inbetween meals as this will help the metabolism keep up to speed.

Next time your walking about the house or work or uni etc.. try just jogging up the stairs, dancing round the kitchen when ya making dinner to drinks. anything to keep the body active. you would be amazed how it all helps.

Hmmmmmmm I agree with you. I have the same problem, I have been doing gym once a week, and eating healthy. I cut down on chips and stuff. Eating more salad. And still I have hardly lose anything. I have a few friends, who can and eat, and still put on a few grams. They can eat twice as me and put hardly anything on. I think it's just the way their body works. Their metabolism etc. I can eat in the morning and an hour later feel hungry again, but i don't eat. I control it. And I really want to loose 2 stones atleast.

Their metabolism works faster, Make a list for a week, what you eat every day (don't cheat yourself!) you will find a lot of things rich in calories. Try to cut down the size of your portions. Keep up the Gym. And don't expect miracles, i took 3 years to gain the weight, it wont come off in 3 month

Hi kristal. I know exactly what you mean but i've put on a lot more than that weight. I feel foul. I have sisters (2) who eat a lot but are different body shapes to me and don't seem to get fat. I have a huge appetite but this doctr i've visited said that this surgery for weight loss stops the hungry feeling and makes you feel full after a little bit (ofr a lot less) food. I'm having the surgery in 3 weeks so i'll keep you posted, if you like. i am so fat and I am young and I don't want to be stuck like this!

the skill is to eat little but often and try to eat after the gym rather than before as your metabolism is 3 times faster after exercise, which will burn off more calories. Also if you can stomach them eat plenty of lemons as they speed up ur metabolism too. Good luck I'll prob av the same problem in nine months

If I were you I would join weight watchers or a similar goup with the same interest.
A visit to your doctor would be advisable he or she might like to talk to you in case you have a medical problem.
Exercise is essential for long term health so well done . Some people who take their exercise seriously exchange muscle for fat. Muscle is healthy tissue but is also more dense and heavy than fat so do not be too down hearted, you may have gain muscle.

Because life is really, really unfair.

They just have faster metabolisms. Maybe this is helped by the fact they smoke (this acts as an appetite suppressant), and perhaps they eat less than you at work or outside the home.

But all in all it's just genetics, and some of us lucked out.
