I havent really found an answer, but i always hear that if you commit suicide that it hurts those around you. That may be tru, but isnt it selfish of them to want to keep you around, just for them ? I mean especially if you feel you cant stay anymore

Maybe it's not "just for them". Maybe they want to keep you around because there's a brighter day coming for YOU. You just can't see it because your own selfish thoughts have blinded you to all other possibilities.

The life you are living, the gift you have been given does not ultimately belong to you. The decision of life or death is not yours to make. Nobody on earth knows the entire scope of your existence. You may be destined to find the cure for cancer someday. Wouldn't it be a tragedy if you were not here to fulfill that destiny? The experiences you are having now will pass and time is a great healer. Step back, look at it from a larger perspective and you may see that they are right in wanting to keep you around.

We are not human beings with a temporary spiritual existence. We are spiritual beings with a temporary human existence.

I asked myself that very same question many years ago. I felt useless, worthless and just knew I wouldn't matter to anyone. Then with each birthday I became more and more aware that I did have a purpose. I met people and had experiences that molded me into the person I am today, very happy. I reflect back on that period of time often and am so thankful that I chose to take the path I did. The fun thing about being young is that every day is an adventure to look forward to. You never know what's going to happen, and to me, that's exciting. I never thought I would be important to anyone, but when I inventory my life I get down on my knees and thank God for the strength He gave me to get through the rough times. You're having a rough time now, write it down! In fact, keep a journal of every day in your life, describe how you feel, honestly. This is for noone's eyes but yours. When you are older, take out that journal, read it and count your blessings that you had those experiences because you will make a difference! I am now 50+ years old and am writing a book about my life experiences. Even though there were very rough times, I wouldn't have changed a one of them, because they made me a very worthwhile person!

This question has been answered by some really in-touch people.
I have read the answers to date before I put my bit in. How good to know so many people like this are in here to help.

Yes suicide is selfish. But like one of your responders said, you're not here for someone else. You're here because you have a reason for being here. As yet you haven't worked out exactly why that is but you will one day. Stop looking, start living! Life will happen! Find a distraction.

Hey do you want to know something funny?
I'm in a bit of a depression right now and last week (after a few drinks) I was feeling sad and miserable. I didn't want to ring any of my friends because I wanted to talk to someone objective. (I use this site often for the same reason).
But this night I wanted to talk to someone, not 'type' to someone,
so I looked up our local phone book and found a Lifeline, for people contemplating suicide.
NOW, I wasn't suicidal but I was VERY miserable. Do you know they had a recorded message saying the facility wasn't available!
Can you imagine if I was someone who was seriously sitting there with the razor blades, poison, gun whatever?????

Since telling this story to others, I have heard its happened before. One lady, mother of three, said she had the same experience but she got round it by ringing Kids Help Line and talked to someone there for three hours!!!!

Don't give up mate! That means someone has beaten you! You're too good for that!
Pick up and get on! Good luck and God bless.

No one is trying to keep anyone around for their own pleasure. However, don't be so negative and keep thinking of dying when u are still living. Instead of being half dead as you sounded like you do not enjoy living, why not be happier? That way, u will be happy and when u are, u will also spread your happy vibs to others around you, especially your loved ones, they will be so happy to see you happy!

Remember, I always tell myself this, whatever that comes down will go up. So this is a tough time that u are facing rite now, bear with it, live through it and it will be better after that!

It won't rain all the time!!!

Life is for living. Why? So we can bring some good in to the lives of others.

yes, i know what you mean. i feel the same, too. it is just that they don't want us to die because they feel sorry for us and hope we can get better. i don't see the point of living as my life is hell and anything i try to do to help myself backfires with tormentation and no good result. it is like i am a joke to God!
