Since you're just looking for a change, before you go all out and dye it... I would suggest trying one of the highlighting shampoos. I use John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette and have been really happy with it. It adds dimension and shine...and just really looks nice. If you don't want to go that route, would suggest starting with professional highlighting versus an all-over dye job.

I just bought some henna dyes which are a bit less extreme than the typical bleach kinds. I have black hair, though so the color only showed up on the lighter parts and was not too noticeable. It was a very relaxing kind of dye, and the smell was much easier to take than any other kind had been. (They usually smell like a strong cat pee, but this one was like having a strong argentinian tea in comparison.) The worst part about the henna dye was the clean up after, but I really did need to clean out my bathtub at some point anyway.

Why not be totally original and leave it alone, it has obviously done it's job for the past 30 years, so what, if grey hairs start to appear.

if you add non ammoniated hair color it is not harmful to your hair. say you have very boring mouse colored hair than you can add warmth or coolness to it.redken shades eq is non ammoniated hair color that adds tone and conditions so your hair feels healthier after you use it. you can go to their website to find a color technician near you. if you put few high lites in your hair that is not too bad either. so its really up to you and how you take care of your hair after its colored on how healthy it is!!!! good luck

You're 30??? I say "go for it" what are you waiting for???
Just don't do it yourself, especially if you're going lighter.
My best advice is talk to someone whose hair you like and ask them where they go..It's so much fun to change..you'll love it.
