I asked a question before about countries people most wanted to visit. One response that absolutely floored me was:

" This is no time for an American to be out of the country."

Do you (of any nationality) feel it is unsafe/ill-advised to travelling abroad, and if so, why?

Eva-b: I visited 4 middle Eastern countries last year and currently live in NZ. Syria, Egypt etc feel more secure than NZ and you have less of a chance of getting mugged, beaten there.

whoever said that was wrong!

it's great to be out of the country. It doesn't matter what that particular person thinks about it; it's not unpatriotic to explore!

I dont know about America but I am from South Africa and i think it would be a great idea. the countries going from bad to worse and i dont want to be here when the crap hits the fan.

Speaking form the general feeling here in South Africa i see what you mean about americans leaving ameruca not being wise. the countries political agendas has made you guys very unpopular worldwide. Your not really welcomed in most places and face a lot of stereotyping and prejudice. i suppose there are places that you can go like the UK for example.

Of course not.I'm a Yank and travel extensively and am currently in Italy. You can't waste your life being afraid.
Of course there are some places that I would not travel to right now mostly Arabic countries. and some South and Central American countries
But Europe, many Asian country's,and Australia and New Zeland are safe.
You just need to investigate the country that you wish to go to.

No. I wouldn't go to the mid east right now. Some day it will be safe. I would travel other parts of the world.
