First of all in neutral territory then bring them both home leaving the pup outside the gate. The adult dog will sniff through and invite the pup into your yard. From then on the adult dog will "mother" the pup.

Your lab is still young so should accept the pup easily. Labs are also, on the whole, gentle dogs.
What I have always done with my dogs is take them outside. Put the pup down on the ground, step back and watch. The adult will snuffle the pup and more than likely give you a dirty look. When the older dog has said his hello and not hurt the pup, praise him highly.
Once they have said hello, put the pup in his own place ( you will need to have a special place for the pup until he settles anyway away from the adult) and spend time with the older dog making a fuss of him.
All of this should go well as long as YOU are the pack leader. You (pack leader) has introduced a new member to the pack and this new member will have your scent on him.

Allow them supervised time together until you are happy they will be fine. It is important you dont feel stressed with the introduction. The adult will feel it if you are worried and will then react to the interloper.
Take out tidbits and feed them - the older dog first - little bits and pieces. Make sure the older dog is sitting first. Get the pup to sit first as well. It is a good exercise in showing who is dominant and also in minimising food jealousy.

Good luck

Hi if your dog is not aggressive you shouldn't have a problem at all but maybe if you have a place that the dog does not consider his own like a garage maybe that is not going to be the dogs territory then that is a safer place but do it gently...hold the pups rear towards the adult while still holding the pup...if you can have someone at hand to grab hold of the adult if need be...but leave him lose unless he shows signs of getting aggressive...good luck with your new puppy..Regards Jake

i've got had in basic terms the comparable style of subject. My crossbreed canines is 13 and appeared truly lonely so I have been given a three hundred and sixty 5 days previous Jack Russell from the rescue kennels. each thing replaced into wonderful in the commencing up yet now the jack Russell seems to be transforming into the dominant canines. while absolutely everyone includes the door she assaults the older canines. even while the older canines walks previous her she will snarl and bite her. I even have now bought a cage for the hot canines and placed her mattress in it. fairly some the time the door to the cage is open and he or she comes and is going as she pleases. while absolutely everyone knocks on the door we lock the cage and he or she has now stopped growling at human beings while the come into the homestead. I additionally make certain I spend a while with the older canines, petting her and grooming her with the different canines interior the cage. After in basic terms a coupe of weeks of doing this the jack Russell is commencing to comprehend that she will't be authentic canines and is commencing to quiet down. She would not see the cage as a punishment as she is by no potential left in for terribly long yet once you tell her to flow to her mattress she is going right away interior the cage. wait and see inclusive of your new canines yet provide the older canines greater interest it does take time yet you are able to artwork it out and that they could discover ways to get on.

I think you should introduce them on neutral territory. The park or something. I introduced my dogs to one another the first time in my yard and that didn't go over well. Next time I introduced the same dogs to each other in front of my house they got along fine. Sometimes older dogs are very gentle w/ puppies my shepherd mix had a yappie dog chase him and nip at him but he didn't do anything to him and I'm sure it's because of his size.

introduce them on neutral ground and be sure to have each one on a leash, once you've established that the older dog isn't going to kill the younger dog, then put them together and keep an eye on them, don't make your older dog jealous, and don't get upset when the older dog teaches the pup some manners
