Thanks for making me hungry....I plainly bite the plum and make sure I have enough napkins because it can get messy, I also like the juicy purple ones rather than the rip orange ones.

Plums have a very high pectin content in them and you may have sensitivity to this. Did you wash it before you ate it? Most fruits are sprayed with a chemical these days and this could also be the reason for the itchy lips and mouth. Always wash fruit before you eat it.

You can also stew them remove the stones or bake them in a pie, add a topping or custard, quite nice.
