Smoking is not a habbit it is an addiction.
You WILL want a cigarette. When you do, you need to do something to distract yourself. Like a tooth pick, gum, candy , exercise, but you need a PLAN on what you are going to do when you get the craving. Some of the
with drawl symptoms doctors liken to post surgery stress and say anti-inflammatory help reduce physical with drawl symptoms.

After the initial with drawl these cravings only last for a few seconds. Recent studies show an exercise program increase the success rate another 25%.

Researchers are aiming at a product that shuts off the Nicotine receptors so even if you smoke you don't get any satisfaction to the craving much less the craving to begin with. Don't wait though, good luck.

Congratulations on your decision to kick the habit. Some thoughts that popped into my head when I read your question were music, sex (blush...sorry), other physical outlets like sports, weight lifting, yoga, biking. Call a friend. Go to the park. Get a dog if you don't already have one. If you do, take him/her for a walk. Surf (online, that is). Generally, replace a bad habit with a good one...and try to find something that will keep you occupied. Perhaps you can hook up with someone else who is trying to quit. Make a new friend. If you take up snacking, you'll gain weight which will make you reach for cigarettes to lose it. Don't do that. All the best!

I asked God to help me quit. He did, every time I lit up I got the hick ups. It's been 5 years and 35 days smoke free halalujah. Give it to God. Find that main reason not to and every time you get the urge, think about why you quit in the first place. My reason was my step daughter was copying me on everything and I didn't want her to copy that. You can do this it's not as hard as you think it is. Mind over matter. Find games, and other things to occupy your time.God Bless you and I will be praying for your success!!

I think the best thing is to use a nicotine substitute. You have to be very rigorous with yourself and not mix cigarettes and the nicotine substitute. But I have not had a cigarette for 7 years now and have found nicorettes to be highly effective (I tried cold turked, which worked for 2 years, but I firmly believe you need a nicotine substitute if you are to make it to the 5 year mark when recidivism rates start to drop off dramatically).

Change your routine. Smoking is a ritual so find something to do when you crave one. I brushed my teeth a lot, cleaned everything in the house to get rid of the smell, chew on gum or a plastic straw, walk, drink lots of water to flush the toxins out of your body. It takes 2 weeks of modifying your behavior and cleansing the poison from your system to kick it. You will survive. It is so wonderful to be able to breathe and not cough. You will feel great! Also, aerobic exercising/walking (enough to make you sweat) will speed up the process. You will sweat out the arsenic, carbon monoxide and nicotine through your pores. Been "clean" for 20+ years!

Give him an ultimatum. If he doesn't stop lying to you, the relationship is going to end. I hope he can get his act together, and man up! However, you have to open your mind to the possibility that he won't. You two can still take care of your child, and not be in a committed relationship. It just doesn't seem like he's as serious as you are.

i'm not a smoker... but i guess keep your hands busy... if you have the urge to put somethin in your mouth, eat candy or some other snack.... anything in place of that cigarette... it might be a slow transition, but its worth a try....

chew on gum or on a straw... get a stress ball so you can fiddle with something with your hands...

basically, replace an old habit with a new one...

if you have kids, think of them and do it not only for your benefit, but for their future...

hope this helps...good luck!
