Lots of people have OCD, like moi. If your obsessions don't interfere with your quality of life or that of others, then ok. But, apparently yours does. Try this: when you set the clock (the first time) write on a post-it and stick it on the clock "I have set the alarm for __:00 at 9:30 pm, Tuesday night." Then if you awaken, use your willpower to not touch the clock. After a few times of this, you will begin to trust yourself and this behavior should ease up. OK, now you might develop another behavior if you are truly OCD, to replace that one. OCD is an anxiety/ control disorder and something very difficult to treat on your own, but you can. While working as a psych nurse in a hospital, I actually learned to control mine by counseling others. Read the book "The Boy who Couldn't Stop Washing." I forgot the author but, it will really help.

I bet if you tossed the alarm clock out the window you'd still get up at the time it's supposed to go off....just a thought.

If you feel you can do this, next time you check your alarm clock tell yourself you are checking it, tell yourself what time it's set form, and when you lay back down tell youself, and I do mean say to yourself, you checked it and it's set to go off at whatever time. Keep telling yourself this and say this every time you feel like checking it....but don't check it. It might prove to be difficult for you but if you think you can do it then by all means try. You need to head it off before it gets worse.

I am not sure if yours or mine is an OCD, but I have to lick the tips of my fingers constantly. Especially if I have touched something. I have to lick them, then touch, then lick them again. Its embarassing but I cant seem to stop. Sometimes I dont even know I am doing it. It makes using a computer a nightmare. And its really unhygenic too. I dont even know why or when it started.

I dont personally have OCD but my boyfriend does - he is constantly washing his hands (scrubbing) because he feels dirty.
Everytime he goes to the toilet, he has to wash his face too. He has to have at minimum 3 showers a day - more if he hasn't got to go out anywhere. It is quite stressful for both him & me but he is trying to control himself & control the OCD.

Yo9u're using the name for a life-affecting psychological disorder to talk about fussing over an alarm clock!

You should be ashamed of yourself. You're the kind of person who's 'depressed' when they're having a bad day and probably think that schizophrenia means that someone has more than one personality.

Hopefully some people with real OCDs will answer this and show you how awful it is for them and how petty you're being.
