No, once a week is fine for a Yorkie. Yorkies, like my Shih-tzus, have hair instead of fur and do best when bathed every 7 - 10 days. Clean dogs tend to not mat as easily as dirty dogs. Just make sure you use a good quality dog shampoo that won't dry out his skin and coat. Like I said my 2 Shih-tzus get bathed every 7 - 10 days and they have never had a dry skin problem, they smell good and their coat is sooooo shiny. My LabX however is different, she only gets a bath when she starts smelling doggy which is about every 2 months or so.

Yes, once a week is a little excessive. Unless your yorkie is doing something that is getting him very dirty, there is no need to do it that often. Bathing him too often strips his skin and fur of oils that protect their skin. Make sure you are using shampoo that is designed for dogs, people shampoo is too harsh.

I bathe my yorkie weekly; however, I use a high quality dog shampoo and use a conditioner. If the dog's skin appears dry during the week, spray the coat with 1 part conditioner, 7 parts water. Comb through. This will keep his or her coat shinny and tangle free.

Yes you are over doing things a little &although we humans like to wash our hair a lot this is also bad hing to do as air is best left alone..yuk but yes a know fact...when you are washing the Yorkie yo re also destroying the oils that keep his/her coat heathy & if you are going to wash the dog so often then I sugges that you find a conditioning dog coat spray. There are sprays to make your pet smell realy nice & they have oils in them also & maybe if you found ne you liked you wouldn't feel like he/she needed bath as often...Regards Jake wner of PetsSecondChance website

NO MORE THAN ONCE A MONTH unless your dog is particularly dirty or stinky. Leave it longer than that if you can. Be sure to use dog shampoo. Tee tree oil shampoo is the best because although it has a natural smell there is no perfume and the oil makes it so you dont need conditioner. Please never use a human blowdryer on your dog or brush its fur while its wet.

g luck!!

that's too often, it'll dry out his skin, unless he just really gets dirty I would think once a month would be enough, I had two yorkies and I only bathed them when needed

I thought that I was over-bathing my Malti-poo, but my vet told me that there is no such thing as over-bathing. Just like humans can wash every day, so too can dogs. While it isn't harmful to bathe your dog every week, you really don't need to unless s/he smells or is dirty.
