It is an accredited association. You do not want to belong to any travel agency not associated with IATA. It is an association that upholds rules and regulations within the travel industry. Most community colleges carry courses to become travel agents and in some cases the courses can be 2 years or under. If in Ontario and you are a travel agency you may also want to investigate what T.I.C.O is.

What exactly do you mean by "scope of a course"?

Do you mean if it's accredited or at least recognised by travel industry people?

Yes, it is up to a point. It means that you have some form of knowledge in the travel industry but it is not going to be the PhD of everything.

It will give you a foothold to the travel industry trade. But everything still boils down to experience in order to land the job of your dreams - and hard work.
