You should go to your local clinic. Planned parenthood provides many resources for contraceptives and also provides sex education. If you qualify, PLanned Parenthood will usually give you discounted or free birth control pills. Go into the clinic, fill out paperwork for about 20 minutes, and talk to a counselor. They are very sweet and understanding and I am sure you will find it helpful. Use condoms until you are sure you can trust the guy and you can get a reliable birth control that your body becomes used to. Dont let the guy not use a condom and then have to switch birth controls later on... usually new birth control options require a back up method for the first few weeks you get on them. And convincing a guy to use a condom after he hasnt for a while is absolute hell

Birth control pills will only work if you take them everyday at the same time (you're allowed to be up to 2 hours late but it's best to be on time). You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT take a pill before sex to prevent pregnancy. You need to have been taking the pill for at least a week before they start working.

If you are worried about forgetting to take the pill all the time consider the patch, nuvaring (which I use and it's so easy) or shot. You can get them from sexual health clinics at reduced prices.

Though if you don't know how to protect yourself maybe you aren't ready to be having sex?

see a doctor and get on the pill but you still need a condom --- the pill for pregnancy and the condom for disease
