Prolonged eye contact doesn't necessarily denote flirting. A lot of people will tell you that it's a sure sign, but it's really not. Some people just make more eye contact than others. I think you should give it some time and let things progress, and wait for other signs of flirting. If he already has a gf, I wouldn't get to excited anyway.

When you write he has a girl friend... I think you consider him as if he is married. A man who is not married, no matter what he is doing with his girlfriend, never made up his mind to stay with that girlfriend, and he is going to flirt with anyone that he sees that seems more interesting, or even just a change from the boring old girlfriend.
Here is a rule: it is only dating if both people agree that they are dating. He can say hello to you and talk to you a zillion times, it does not count unless both he thinks it is a date and you think it is a date.
Now, if this fellow is bothering you with his attention, then just say to him straight, to not stare at you so much. But if you are willing to be friendly with him, then talk to him an hour lunch, even if you think he is flirting with you, just be calm and friendly.
The thing to do is to find someone that YOU want to date, even while this guy is wasting his own time with you.

Put it in the friend category, until something more is said or done. Realize this- a friend is better than a boyfriend. Don't jump to conclusions, it sound as though you're searching. Just take your time it'll come. It surely will but headaches and problems will come along with it if you're not friends first.

Prolong eye contact may also mean I would like to get to know you as a friend.

he could have just been interested in the conversation you were having. don't jump to conclusions. but since you have found out that he has a girlfriend it is best to let him blow in the wind before you find yourself in a cat fight! meow
