Jesus wept after the death of His good friend Lazarus. But Jesus knew that He was going to raise Lazarus from the dead. So why did He weep? I don't think He was weeping over Lazarus, I think He was weeping at the lack of faith the people still had in Him. Martha and Mary (the sisters of Lazarus) were good friends of Jesus and knew who He was, yet they did not have enough faith to realize that Jesus could bring Lazarus back. Jesus was saddened by their lack of faith.

Jesus was 100% human and 100% God.

That is, Jesus had compassion, felt loss, and understood from the inside what it was like to live in the flesh, all the while understanding from the inside what it was like to be God.

The fact that he cried was proof that he was man. And this being the first time in the history of all things that God ever felt sorrow, it was arguably the genesis of God's mercy through compassion.

I think it just shows that Jesus had all the same emotions that we do, human emotions. He cared, He loved, He was afraid, that's why He asked His Father" to let this cup pass from me"
That is just my opinion!

The significance is revealed in the next line..."See how he loved him.." It shows that Jesus, as the revealer or God, or as GOD himself, weeps with humanity, is "moved" and "troubled in spirit." That God understands our humanity. It also shows the depth of love itself
