We "inherited" this cat, we think she's about 2 yrs old.She goes into heat every 2-3 weeks it seems! We don't have the money to get all her shots & spayed & we don't know what to do! Also, she has a habit of peeing on clothes if they're left on the floor...her litter box is cleaned regularly & she uses that too...will getting her spayed help with this or is there something else I can do?

Call your local shelters and humane societies. There may be vets willing to spay her for free or low fee. Don't give up. Spaying may stop the scent marking. The shelter or humane society may offer advice on training/behavior modification to help with the scent marking.

Yes you can spay her while she is in heat, it usually costs a bit more but is perfectly safe. they actually can spay while a cat is pregnant too. sounds cruel but it does happen. I worked for a vet clinic for 10 years and have seen it many many times. as far as help try calling "friends of animals" they are an organization designed to help with the cost of spaying. as for the peeing problem, spaying will not usually change this in a female cat. I suggest trying to keep thing interesting to her off the floor, and if it continues place puppy training pads down just in case. Unfortunately some habits are just unbreakable. this may be why she was given away?

Yes, it's perfectly safe to spay a cat in heat. They are basically in heat until they get pregnant, and are very persistent in trying to have babies, so it's better to have it done before she manages to get out.
Call animal control and the SPCA. They have programs to help, or know where to find low cost spay and neuter places.
Yeah, the spay will probably help with the litter box problems.
She's fine. She seems like she is in agony, but she is just trying to attract males. Keep a close watch on her. I had a cat jump through a screened window to get at males. Luckily it was on the first story of the house, or who knows what would have happened to the poor girl.

Yes, you can spay a cat in heat. It is a bit more messy for the vet, and a bit more risky for the cat, but it certainly can be done.

I have a spayed cat who pees on my clothes every once in a while...so spaying is not the answer.

A cat cannot go into heat every few weeks so something is wrong.

Get her spayed. Then worry about shots, but only if she is an outdoor cat. If she is an indoor cat, why bother with shots.

Call a vet to get a number of a low cost spay/neuter clinic in your area. If you absolutly not do this, give the cat to somebody who can. It is not fair to let a kitty live like this. Your cat will continue this until she is spayed, it is the only way to stop this. Please get it done. Owning a pet is like having a child. If you had a human child I am sure you would find the money to get it to the DR.

Just do without "luxuries'(fast food, new clothes,DVDs,Cd's,cigarettes,)for a week and use that money to have her spayed.Yes,cats who are in heat will urinate all over. It's also bad for them to keep coming in heat,as it can cause false pregnancies(and REAL ones if she gets out),and a life-threatening uterine infection called pyometra,in which the uterus fills with pus and causes blood poisoning. It's really much cheaper to have her spayed than to wait until she gets sick or pregnant-then you'll have even more cats to care for. Please have her spayed.Your whole family and the cat will be so much happier,I guarantee it,and you'll feel good knowing you've done the right thing.

Yes, getting her spayed should stop her from peeing! If you don't have money to do it, you should try the humane society, they would do it cheaper!! And yes, you can get her spayed while she is in heat, it is safe.
