Any ideas on a reasonably priced High Tea (for a bridal shower) in or around the San Diego area? I'm thinking around $18 per person. I am paying for 25 people and hoping to find a good deal out there. Could you let me know where NOT to go as well.

Though the ambience is nice at the Westgate, with harp music and crystal chandeliers, the tea is expensive, and I had a terrible experience with one of the event coordinators for the Westgate. The experience was actually sufficiently disappointing for me to cancel my wedding reception plans there and re-book with the Weston Hotel. The event coordinator I was working with was flaky and kept popping up hidden charges to my event after it looked like the deal was sealed. She also wasn't responsive to phone calls or emails soon thereafter. Customer service can make or break an event, so I would NOT suggest the Westgate based on bad event coordination staff.

I've heard good things about Mrs. Burton's Tea Room ($18/person), which supplies your guests with hats and boas to get in the "Victorian spirit" and provides you with a free photo of the event. The tea room also offers sandwiches, scones, fresh fruit, etc. It's in Heritage Park, right next to that one lingerie shop. That actually is pretty convenient because you and the rest of the girls could stop by the lingerie shop after tea if you want something a little racy and fun to end the afternoon.

Have fun!

Go to Tea Upon Chattsworth for sure! Afternoon tea is $20 per person, high tea is $25 I think. It is worth it. you feel like a little girl playing dressup and tea party all over again. it is the sweetest place ever, and right in point loma where there are cool shops nearby. The woman who owns the place is a doll. great food, amazing tea!

Definitely the Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado. Real high tea English style, including my favorites, cucumber sandwiches and petit fours.

The surroundings are rich and elegant. The views up and down the Silver Strand are spectacular.

Sorry can't help on the price; it's been a while since I've done.
