It would be great if you can find a design that both of you can appreciate and one that you both can relate too. Like trying looking for something that would only go together when combining the two tattoos.

Wow..! What fun...! But, hey, if you think she's gonna be negative have you thought of something you can both experience but not so permanent that she can let grow out if she really wants? I mean something maybe for her even more adventurous like piercing?
There's no limit to the imagination with twin piercings... And I don't mean ears or noses, but at the very least naval piercings with twin matching jewellery. Not just keepers or bars or rings either, but real dangling, drop gorgeous jewellery? A mother and daghter nipple piercing might be the way to go, at least to suggest when you first bring this up.
Look, she'll prolly be so pleased that you love her and even more portent that you like her as a true girlfriend and want to share with her that she'll take you seriously after she thinks about it a while.
BUt anyway, suggest something outrageous to begin with, and then you can modify and scale back.
Like, suggest matching body piercings as daring as your imagination allows and then scale back to matching naval piercings if you like... And if that works out, then do the same thing with a tatt each.
Suggest an outrageous dragon on yourbacks, but really have in
mind a flower scroll or Celtic rings and a Gaelic message of mother daughter goddess love to have tattooed just above your
bottom, lower spine, below waist, and if she is only luke warm still then take it to a small Celtic knot and, or shamrock above oron your thigh, or more pretilly on your ankles, then buy matching ankle chains.
Just my thoughts if I could imagine even asking my own mum...
(smile) But you've given me an idea to talk about with my sister... and maybe....Ooops, hope this helps. Email me, post a pic if it all works out.
Good luck.

I think it's a great idea! Find something that you have in common, and go from there. A favorite animal maybe? A heart, or cross? How about a butterfly (the ultimate symbol of fragile beauty)? If you have an activity that you both enjoy--like swimming, hiking, shopping, dancing, etc., try a tat that relates to that interest. Or, how about something that shows your heritage?
Good luck! I hope she goes for it! (I have a a celtic trinity cross on my lower back, so I can relate--my Mom's scared to death of needles, so she wouldn't do it. )

A couple months ago I went back home to VA for a sister reunion (there are 3 of us) and we got the trinity symbol (like the one on Charmed) but in our own birthstone colors. I'm the youngest & the only one with tats. It took me a little time to talk the middle sister into it but when I brought up the design to her she went for it. Then we both worked on the oldest sister. It didn't take much because she looked at it as her entering another stage in her life.
So think of something that symbolizes your relationship or where you stand in something. It's easier to give ideas when you know a little about the relationship between you. All my tats symbolize something or some one. My mom won't get one but she has given her approval on me getting one "for" her. So I'm getting one of a rose opening with a Cherokee Lady kneeling inside it on my left calf.

i think a good idea would be a tattoo of an open book with one side tattooed on each arm and when ye stand together the picture is complete. This can symbolise all that you've learned from your mother and the fact that you're only complete with her and therefore still have more to learn.

A heart with half a necklace type chain coming from one side of it, you have the chain coming out of one side of your heart and your Mom has it coming out of the other side of her heart. That's a nice way of saying that no matter how far apart you are, there is a connection. It doesn't even have to be big,, you can get tiny hearts.

I got a tat for my boys around my ankle, it is the sun and moon probably like you have seen before, and intertwined in the stars that go around my ankle, is both of thier astrological signs.
I was thinking that maybe you could design something that says something about both of you and make it a two-part tat, say, on opposing ankles or whatever you have left to tat....LOL I know how it is addicting. I have managed to stay at one so far, but....I am designing one for my boyfriend now. It will be a turtle/dolphin theme, and if he wanted to get one, it could be "split" between us both.
happy tatting!!!

To that guy that was EXTREMELY rude, keep your comments to yourself. How dare you criticize someone's parenting. You know nothing about her or her mother! Besides that, I think mother/daughter tats are sooooo cute! My mom and I want cherry blossoms on our feet! Good luck with whatever you decide to get!

Draw together your astrological signs someway to match, so you each have a tattoo of something that represents you both together.
