$10,000 at the Jewelery store and it is one carat, how much do you think is the markup?

So can you tell me the value of the diamond by itself, and how much the seller makes all together.

EG. If a ring is 10K, and diamond is 5K, does that mean seller gets the $5000 mark up?

wholesale is very easy to understand, your ring has a value depending on quality of the diamond, gold might be 150.00 but one carat diamond can be as high as 8,000.00 if it is flawless, so find that out and you will have your answer, usually high grade diamonds come with a certificate of value, do you have one?

Its the 4 C makes the diamond price different. There is always a markup as to pay for rent, staffs, commission. Come on there is always markup for anything u buy.
The clarity, don't need to get flawless as naked eyes see. Just get a VS. Colour, D, E ,F will be more ex as its collection colour. G will be normal colour to get. Cut, there are quite a few cuts out there, ex perfect cut. Once a diamond hit 0.5 carat the price will jump. Even the cert will make a difference, there is 1 full and the other 1 is not. And where it is certified.

a) Depends on the quality of the diamond. A perfect diamond of the right color and clarity with no inclusions is worth more that a less than perfect (off color, clarity and with inclusions)
b) Depends on the cut of the diamond. The more facets the more expense as that greatly increases the amount of workmanship that went into the stone.
c) Depends on the style of the band. A plain band costs less than a more intricate band.
d) Depends on the amount of gold in the band. Some bands are thinner than others and therefor cost less.

Now add to that the expense of running a store, taxes, rents, insurance, employee wages, lighting, heating and cooling..
Now add to that the fact that most jewelers have to purchase stock to fill their stores on the off chance that someone will want to come in and buy it.
Now add to that the expense of everything I have forgotten to mention already,,,like advertising and all.
Gee, for a nice ring, from a nice store you can trust, Hmmm
I think at $10,000.00 that ring winds up costing the jeweler around $9,000.00 or thereabouts.
Good Luck
BTW If you buy it online, best get a neighborhood GIA certification ...I have seen tons of ripoffs.

That depends on the quality of the gem. Size does affect the price but Color,Clarity and Flaws are also factors. So if a ring is 10K and the diamond is 5K the store doesn't make 5K. The store would make about 2K or less. But that depends on the store and the ring.

You need to compare the clarity, colour, cut and carat before the price even comes into it.

You may have a .50 point diamond that is really high in clarity (ie no flaws) that is worth $4000.00. Bt you could have a whole carat diamond that is low in clarity and worth the same amount.
Get a jeweller to show you a chart with the 4 'C's on it.
Make sure you understand this before you purchase anything. It is no point having a huge rock on your finger that doesn't sparkle because it is crap quality.

All jewelers are different, so its hard to say.
Its probably best to try to educate yourself about diamonds a little before you go in there (yes color, cut, and clarity are important!) Shop around to see how much loose diamonds cost elsewhere and then add 500-1000 for the setting (depending on how intricate it is and if it is platinum).
Thats about how much you should pay.
This is a basic site with all of the info you will need on diamonds: http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_education.asp?track=row_mod2&elem=more_button

Also, is it platinum or gold? Gold (white or yellow) is cheaper.

Yea, you get it. To put a diamond in a ring setting is rather cheap..2-300 bux. The best thing to do is to avoid the mall retailers and find a diamond dealer, they will sell you the best cut, color, and clarity for the cheapest. They dont have a storefront to pay for. EBay has some very good dealers, check it out you will be very satisfied. I was.

i quite can not say lots, by way of fact i do no longer comprehend who your female pal quite is, what does she like, etc. yet i could accept as true with the previous answer. A heart Diamond Ring may be a greater suitable decision.
