Immigrants have always done the jobs Americans wouldn't do.
The only difference is that over the years the color of the immigrants and the languages they speak has changed. Europeans came for years, then they ordered slaves, then the slaves were freed....and more Europeans immigrated over to Ellis Island...they took whatever jobs they could find, the jobs "real" Americans didn't want....now we have Mexicans.
The media is responsible for all of the current attention though because Mexicans have been coming here for years upon years. Just ask anyone in California, Arizona, or Texas....then you've got Puerto Ricans who invade Florida...and of all things...the liberal will give anyone welfare state of Massachusetts.
In a few years we'll probably be bitching that the Canadians are immigrating and taking our jobs.

Hispanics always have. The owners of huge farms and other business often contracted for laborers, from the great California valleys, to Washington's apples and cherries, and the wheat fields of the mid west. Nearly every piece of fruit America ate was picked by the braceros, hard working decent people.
The 'problem' has become' conveniently full blown now because it is a great political diversion from, among other things, the war in Iraq and the inroads made into destroying personal liberties. The problem was here before all the flap about it. Greed brought it home. Ours!

Americans did. Illegals do them for less money is all that is. If the illegals were not doing them the employers would be forced to increase wages up to a moral standard of living. They might have to sell 2 or 3 of there cars and throw less parties maybe even be forced to turn some lights off in their million dollar houses wouldn`t that be a shame.

I don't think there are jobs americans won't do. It's a big lie and one that really makes me mad. There are plenty of people here who need jobs and are willing to work. There are also plenty of people who want 2nd jobs. I did lots of farm work growing up and worked for 5 bucks an hour. That was called being in high school and college and working to pay for it. I've known plenty of farmers who did TONS of hard work.

The entire "jobs Americans will not do" argument is fallacious and promoted by business owners who want CHEAP LABOR. Americans will indeed do these jobs, but not for minimum wage.
These business owners are the biggest liars in this immigration debate. If they cannot make money paying market wages to LEGAL workers, they need to close their business.

Possibly transients before they realized that they can make more by panhandling? Its not that Americans WON'T do these tasks, its just that illegals WILL do them for less..... as a result the amount of hourly pay soon reflected this and made hard work less and less attractive. Just a random theory, which may or may not be accurate.

Americans did do those jobs, now many are unemployed because illegals took their jobs. Americans work hard to support their families and I don't see many turning down a job. Your statement is just wrong.

We have to understand that America was not as economically prosper, modern, urban as today. So most Americans couldn't afford to have people cleaning, mowing their houses and so on. But there still was a time when the US had no one to do these jobs and therefore initiated programs for temporary workers to come from Mexico. They were called: brazeros.
