It uses truth and fiction intertwined. It's like true people and objects with theories of what their true intentions were.

Ues it is fiction,it just uses some historical facts such as Jesus,Opus Dei etc and intertwines it with myths. And for people who think that the Priory of Sion is true,it was actually a hoax.
"The Prieuré de Sion, usually rendered in English translation as Priory of Sion (occasionally as 'Priory of Zion'), is an alleged thousand-year-old cabal featured in various conspiracy theories, as well as being listed as a factual ancient mystery religion in the bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. It has been characterized as anything from the most influential secret society in Western history to a modern Rosicrucian-esque ludibrium, but, ultimately, has been shown to be a hoax created in 1956 by Pierre Plantard, a pretender to the French throne. "
The documents that were found were actually planted by the hoaxers. The whole thing is fake, and it's sad to see people taken in by hoaxes such as the Priory of Sion and the DaVinci code itself.

yes and no. The problem is that you have included the word 'pure' in your question, which suggests 100%.
Remember that most 'novels' ARE works of fiction and, usually, the author uses some element of truth or personal experience to make such a story believable, valid, interesting .........

What do you think after reading it? Instead of asking the question at face value and expect about a thousand thumbs up's and down's, you'll get conspiracy and controversy. Depending on who you ask, they'll give you reason based on opinion, study and thought. Have you made up your mind and decided on an answer before posing the question? Scholars do this as a form of propaganda, something we don't need when we have our young men fighting in Iraq- let's bring them home safe and sound instead of debating scripture and a novel. That's just my opinion.

it is mostly fiction with the names of the places as well as the Grand Masters and so forth as being the real deal since they exist. there is a Roseline, the churches mentioned are real, and yes DaVinci was part of the Priory of Sion which is true and there are actual documents kept in archives or museums about who was what and during what year-member or grand master.

yes.
il just name a few---one example is that, brown claims that Jesus Christ is not GOD- HE is just a mortal prophet and a powerful man-- the earlies Christian confession had been JESUS IS LORD (Romans 10:9, Phil 2:11) (Mt. 3:16-7, Jn 1:1-3, 20:28, Mk 2:5-12, Lk 24:47-47 are just a few eg.)-- HE is not mortal, as HE ascended to Heaven.
another is Jesus was married to a woman--Jesus choice of civil status is best explained by the church. the new testament regularly claimed him as the"bridegroom" Mt. 9:15, Mk 2:19, who has taken as HIS "bride"-> the CHURCH--we are members of the church--all Christians. the bride of Christ is the CHURCH itself-- us, who loves him and serves him, and Not one girl.!
Such metaphor wud not have developed if Christ was bound in marriage to a flesh-&-blood woman. Jn 3:29
another, mary magdalene was of the royal house of benjamin and her marriage to JESUS was just a political strategy-- the problem with this assertion is that it has no historical basis. even from a GEOGRAphical point of view. mary m. was located on the nwestern shore of the sea of galilee, israel. weras the tribe of benjamin and judah resided in the south, on the west side of the dead sea.
these are just a few..
i hope i somehow help u figure it out..

Not entirely. It uses historical fact, and some fantasy, to create a great work of semi-fiction.

it is fiction woven around some basic historical facts, some myths and some absolute frauds or hoaxes that the author bought into. interesting and plausible. probably partly true.
