If you believe in Jesus as your savior, be a Christian. If you don't believe in Jesus but do believe in Judaism, be a Jew. Like my Jewish friend said yesterday: "Jews for Jesus is an offensive statement and point of view."
Agree? Disagree? Why?

If you are offended, consider this: "People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs."

Some people asked me how it would be offensive. It is offensive because according to Judaism the Messiah has not come, so how can they not be offended that some people are buying into a false Messiah?
Some people are citing that the apostoles were Jews. That is irrelevant because they became Christians.
And Jews are not a race.

Yes, it seems like another one of those where they can not make up their minds.
The definition of the religion Christian is that they accept Jesus as the Son of god and as God in the flesh.
Judaism defines itself as only having one God and the best Jesus could be is a Rabbi or Prophet.
Unless they are defining themselves as Jewish by race, and then it is a different game. If they are defining them selves by race then they are Christians of Jewish or Hebrew Ancestry.

How in the world is that offensive? Ask your Jewish friend that. By the way the 12 apostles were Jews for Jesus

How can Jews for Jesus be offensive? Not only was Jesus a Jew but also many of the apostles, including Paul who wrote most of the New Testament.
Saying that one must believe in a particular religion (in this case, Judaism) just because of his or her race...is not that what is truly offensive?

I don't understand this kind of thinking, unless of course it comes from a Jewish person who does not believe in Jesus as their Messiah. Actually it's a perfect completion of the faith of Judaism to be what is known as a Messianic or Completed Jew. In fact, I rejoice every time I meet one. You don't give up that you are a Jew...you have just been given the greatest gift you could receive; the knowledge that Jesus Christ came for you...He is your Messiah and Savior.

Jesus was first and last a Jew who wanted his people to receive a message. not change their religion. The gentiles co-opted his message after he departed and turned him into a martyr and he lost his jewish identity, but he never advocated any of that. it was all super-imposed upon his tecahings and memory without his knowledge or consent.
Any honest jew who sincerely wants to receive his message to them of love and forgiveness and redemption can do so and still be a good Jew, just as jesus was. There are many kinds of jews and this is just one kind of jew. but a jew is a jew and you do not stop being one just because you have a religious experience as jesus had and tried to share it. Being jewish is religious and also genetic in most cases. The jews are well known for their focus on the genes of a family and the heredity (like the mormans but more so. ) only some of the unorthadox jews allow gentiles to convert to judaism. jesus nver stopped being a jew nor was he ever what is now called a "Christian." He never heard the term spoken.
Jews who love jesus may offend some jews but should never offend any true christians if they follow his teachings. remember he said that Love is the greatest virtue. he never mentioned anti-semitism as a virtue. So.. to the jews for jesus, i say, WELCOME TO THE FOLD.
PS
Christians cannot seem to accept the fact that jesus was a jew, just as Buddha was a hindu. Deal with it!

No.
Jesus was a Jew.
He preached a reformist point of view.
Christianity as practised by 95% of the sects or cults out there is based on Pagan rituals not the Jewish Traiditions Jesus participated in.
Christians don't do Pesach (last supper) in the traditional way with Rabinical wine, lamb, unleavened bread.
Jesus more than likely celebrated Chunakah
Jesus was probably Bar Mitzvahed
Eastern Orthodox Christains follow the Jewish Passover to define their Easter Sunday.
Catholics and Protestants have their own screwy way of making that date, but it's usually a week or so away from EAstern Orthodox and sometimes comes WAY before PAssover or WAY AFTER pasover.
Jesus certainly wouldn't eat Ham for Easter dinner!
Like I said, Christians are hung up on Pagan things like Winter and Spring Solstice.
Everyone knows JEsus wasn't born on December 25th
It's convienient. The Pagas Peter, Paul, John and Constatine were converting worshiped days on the Solsitice.
December 25th is close enough to the "average" date of Chaunakah and also meets the solstice (21st)
Easter comes close to the first point of Aires (spring solstice) and it's also close to Passover and spring rites of the PAgans.
See, very convenient.

I disagree. "Jews for Jesus" are Jews by culture and Christian by faith. Being Jewish means you practice Judaism (ancient Hebrew religion) or you are born to a Jewish mother and are culturally Jewish.

I disagree, then I'm not Jewish. The Jewish people are a race and if they believe Jesus is our savior, their religious beliefs would be Christian but this doesn't change their ethnicity.
