Limbo was never an official doctrinal teaching of the Catholic Church. It was simply a popular grassroots tradition which developed in an effort to reconcile the biblical teaching that no-one can enter the kingdom without baptism, with the biblical idea of a just and merciful God. Which just goes to show that if you want genuine and infallible truth you will adhere to the official teaching of the Catholic Church, and not design your own beliefs based upon your own interpretations of the Bible. Which is why the Bible tells us that the Church is "the pillar and foundation of truth". But that's one of the many parts of God's Word that Protestants ignore.

And if the Catholics were right... then how do the critics who said the catholics were wrong know that their critique was right in the first place?

How many of the critics have died and come back to give plausible information ( info and not fact until proven ) about Limbo?

If you are referring to Catholic Doctrine, it was not wrong about limbo on account of the fact Catholic Doctrine has never endorsed the existence of limbo.

There were some high-profile Catholic theologians who felt, personally, that limbo was not so far-fetched. Their ideas spread on account of their rather large following, and this has lead many to believe limbo was part of Catholic Doctrine only to be "cancelled", eventually.

Some individual Catholics might have been wrong about the existence of limbo but, the Church as a whole, remains correct in NEVER having endorsed limdo as actual Doctrine.

Excellent question. They are wrong in many areas.
Anything that is not found in the bible is man made. Some of what the Roman Catholic church teaches is from the bible. MUCH of what they teach is not.
Limbo or purgatory is not biblical - and not true.
Indulgences are not biblical.
Praying to saints/Mary or anyone but God is not biblical.
etc........

Study the bible. Ask questions. Check the answers in the bible!

Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved." (Mark 16:15-16)

For centuries, people have wondered about children who died before they were baptized.

Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has be rejected.

The Church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.

What do you think happens to unbaptized babies when they die? On what do you base your belief?

With love in Christ.

The major teaching is about Jesus Christ, that part is very good. Just because we believe some bad doctrine that is not supported by scripture doesn't mean everything we believe is wrong.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

Yeah, none of us knows much about the afterlife. There's a reason for that. If we only think of the afterlife, we won't do what we need to do on earth.
Look at ancient Egyptian religion, totally death oriented.

...and Catholics are Christians (who have a relationship with Christ), so I'm just wondering what you meant to point out in your FYI.

When they cross reference their believes with the Holy Word of God and accept it then they will realize that they have been wrong.
