Have you been referred to a perinatologist for an evaluation? There are several reasons for stillbirth. Often, the cause is never found out. But sometimes there are clues from your last pregnancy. Depending upon what happened, your doctor may order certain tests (e.g. antiphospholipid syndrome panel, hereditary thrombophilia panel, chromosome analysis). They may help you to know what risk factors you have. Also, depending upon your test results, there may be a way to help lessen the risk for another pregnancy loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your last pregnancy. There is probably very little that anyone can say that will take away the worry. I wish you lots of good news in your next pregnancy.

It probably depends upon why you lost your last baby. If the last baby had DNA abnormalities, it could have no bearing on the risk factors for this baby. Since 38 weeks is full-term, I would set aside questions regarding prematurity and the likelihood that the next child would be premature (if the problem were incompetent cervix, then baby would be delivered sometime before 30 weeks, I would guess). Tell your doctor your worries. If there is a clear cause for the loss of baby #1, then s/he would be able to tell you, and also tell you whether the loss has any bearing on the risk factor(s) for baby #2.

From all that I have read there is very little correlation between how your last pregnancy ended and how this one will go. Unless there was a permanent medical reason for why you lost your last pregnancy at 37 weeks, there is no way to tell whether or not you will go full term with this one. Sorry for your loss and I hope this one has a better outcome! My prayers be with you!

Pretty low, unless your child passed away due to a genetic malformation that you and your partner carry. Most late-term losses are simply unexplainable or result from a true cord accident, which is rare.

Don't worry so much. Lighting won't strike you twice.
