Ooooooh I'm looking forward to reading that. I hope I can find it in a library sometime soon.

Nobody tells me what not to read. On the other hand, I don't read every book that's published.
I might read a popular controversial book in order to be able to discuss it with others who have read it. For instance, "The Da Vinci Code." I actually enjoyed it despite (or maybe because of) its far-fetched, fanciful theories. I did sort of resent the propaganda implying that the "history" cited in the book was well founded. A person less scholarly than I might believe it.
"The God Delusion"? I have a big list of books already that I want to read, but I'll think about it.
I'm not afraid to face my doubts, and I'm sure God expects it of me. Faith based on avoidance is not my way.
On the other hand, everybody has the right to boycott.

Absolutely not. There is no Biblical proof at all that one can be corrupted by reading material that is ungodly or evil. As Christians, we are not to trust our religious leaders, but God alone. It is important to arm ourselves with many different types of knowledge in order to best serve God.
Blessed Be

Can't imagine my church making that choice, so in a purely hypothetical phase, I would read it if my time and life permitted.
Edit - I just read a few reviews on amazon - customer, and editor's at random. My thought are that there is too much anger, and inflexibility in point of view. I read for joy, not to aquire anger from a book. I will stick with my scientific journals that weigh both sides of arguments and let you for conclusions

I don't let religious leaders tell me anything. I would read the book and judge for myself. These religious leaders are out of control. I love it when they try to tell you who to vote for!!!! Get a clue!!!
I bet God cries sometimes when he listens to these religious leaders

If I want to read it I will. I know for a fact most of our church's leaders read the books they do not want us to read. I do not think they will tell you not to read something- they might advise against it though.

I'm a huge fan of literature of all kinds, as well as a devoted Christian .... I'd listen to what they said and then run out and read the book lol.
But please note that I'm fairly strong in my faith, so I read things like that with a solid foundation in my own belief.

because they would probably have a good reason, but i can make my own inference that a book with a such a title is not going to be a book that interests me, nor is accurate by any means of the word.

My church teaches from the bible, we don't spend alot of time talking about the latest attack on God! You know, in banks, to train their tellers, they have them handle real money over and over and over...that is how they can discern fakes. Likewise, a person who pursues the truth will spend time in that truth....the bible....and not worry about all the "fakes" out there!

No, the Church leaders are not my master. I do not obey their commands, they can suggest. I'd read it just to spite them, and out of curiosity to see what he had to say.
