The reason your teeth hurt is because they are moving. This is exactly what you want the Invisalign to do. As your teeth get used to the set you have right now, they will not hurt as much because they aren't moving as much. But you can expect some movement with each new set because they will cause your teeth to move more. You might take some over-the-counter pain reliever for now if you really can't stand it (don't take OTC pain relievers for a long period of time without your doctor's okay). Hopefully your mouth will get used to them in a little while.

If the pain is caused by chafing against your gums, you could probably use a topical pain reliever like Anbesol on whatever spot is bothering you. You can wait for your gums to toughen up a bit but if it's still bothering you you can call the orthodontist and get his/her advice.

If this really bothers you, you can mention it to the orthodontist and he/she can take this into consideration when giving you a new Invisalign set.

Don't use a collar because they just get the fleas in that area, anyway. There is a pill you can get over the counter at the vet called capstar- it kills all the fleas that are on them in 30 minutes. Then use something like frontline once a month to keep fleas and ticks off. It is safe and is available for little bitty dogs too. (I work part time at a vet)

I recommend to all my patients that they take Ibuprofen the first couple of days that they get a new tray. You'll just have to expect discomfort while you're teeth are getting used to that new pressure. Hope this helps.
