...then do you also believe that books about any religion should be banned as well? Because that would be only fair. And by saying this, I am humoring the people that think the books promote witchcraft and Satanism...which they don't. You can't expect the world to cater to only YOUR religious beliefs.

Every time we ban a book we remove a little bit of intelligence and freedom from humanity. It is like treating people like 2 year olds "this may hurt you so I am taking it away".

Religion is based on a personal choice not what we can or cannot read.

Harry Potter is fantasy fiction. I am a Christian and I would never expect these books to be banned! Harry Potter in no way promotes witchcraft or satanism! In fact I'd say it does a better job of making witchcraft fictional than anything else. People into witchcraft and satanism definitely do not go to Harry Potter as a resource, and i doubt they were even remotely inspired by these novels.

People of every religion including my own need to be more wary of people misinterpreting holy texts such as the Holy Bible and the Quran etc. and using this as inspiration for evil.

I don't believe these books in any way would ever need to be banned, nor any other fantasy books or stories about Merlin and other wizards and witches.

Harry Potter is truly the greatest wizard in the history of the planet. he has single handedly gotten millions of children to put down video game controolers and turn of the idiot box, and pick up a BOOK and READ it.

if we are going to ban any book that mentiones witchcraft then we might as well become an liieterate country.

would you ban the works of William Shakesphere.
how about the collected works of Walt Disney.

and we cannot forget that precious bible which gives very clear discriptions of a certain prophet looking for the council of a sorceress.

some people just have to cause trouble to get their 15 minutes of fame.

what i love about the folks trying to ban the books,,,,is that they are just making them even more desireable to kids, and more adults are reading them to see what all of the fuss is about.
you all have made Mrs Rowling one of the richest people in the world.

I love the Harry Potter books and movies. So do most Christians I know.
It's only a few of the fringe lunatics that actually think the books ought to be banned.
May God have mercy on their souls!!

No, I don't believe that Harry Potter should be banned. I've actually seen a child try to float a feather, and it didn't work. However, maybe they should be restricted to people who aren't susceptible to the powers of suggestion. But the bible needs to be banned. It's too violent for children.

I love the Harry Potter books. I have read all of them twice. I don't see anything wrong with reading them...you just have to keep in mind that it is fantasy, not reality.

No because most kids like to read the books. Now a days kids hardly pick up a book to read. And since he came in the picture i see them sitting down to read.

This is why censorship is wrong. Who gets to determine what books should be banned? What is wrong to one group, would not be wrong to another. For these sensitive types, don't read stuff you don't like, okay? We more mature types are not afraid of fiction and would appreciate it if you would leave our reading material alone. This isn't the dark ages.
