Character by its nature is a powerful thing, and to those who don't understand it (most people) it can be very frightening. Courage is also powerful and frightens those who don't understand it.

Also, people demonize things that shake up what they think is true and persons of courage and character do just that. If you demonize someone it's easier to see them as the enemy and to destroy them - with words, with repression, or simply physically.

They do not seem sinister to me....I am grateful for the example they set and it gives me people to admire and respect.
