I used to get crazy panic attacks all the time. Try exercising more, drinking more water, and eating healthy foods. Meditation also calms the mind and can help slow you down. Find something simple that makes you calm and happy when you think about it, and each time you start feeling nervous or panicky, think of that one thing. Sometimes all it takes is just closing your eyes and taking a deep breath. If this doesn't help, perhaps seeing a councilor would be beneficial. If you are close with your parents (even if they make you feel panicked) let them know what's going on, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you get through this.

Major depression is a physical and chemical imbalance that makes your brain malfunction. There are drugs to alleviate the symptoms, so see your doctor. Or it can be OCD, but that would be treated the same way basically.

However, there is often a cause to these symptoms that drugs will NOT fix. It can be as simple as a food allergy or lack of a vital nutrient. For example, symptoms of somebody who is deficient in essential omega fatty acids include fatigue, depression, and anxiety.

1. Call your doctor and make an appointment. Explain everything and do not downplay your symptoms as being "not that bad."

2. Watch your diet. Whole grains, vegatables, fish, fruit, and nuts are musts unless you are allergic to any of those. Stay away from diet sodas or any artificial sweetners. Avoid soda that has phosphoric acid and caffeine.

3 Until you see your doctor, you can try this right now. Diphenhydramine is a drug that you can buy any 24 hour convenience store or any place that sell allergy medicine. It is the same drug found in Benedryl or Nytol (generic is cheaper though). It has minor sedative effects and even some minor anti-depressant qualities. It may make you sleepy, but that might be a relief from constant tension.

Remember that this will get better.

I just read your extra info. You may need help with taking care of your husband. I live with my wife and 3 kds, but we also take care of her grandparents. One has Alzheimer's and the other is dying of heart failure. Both my wife and I have panic attack bouts, often at night when we'd rather be sleeping.

What's the chronic disease?

I know what you're going through, girly, and it aint pretty. Depression and anxiety go hand in hand. Depression should be called "suppression" because that's how you feel. It's terrbile, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody. If you don't ever have it, you can't really understand it. People say you should"just get over it". AS IF!!! It's kind of like a never ending cycle. It's up to you to break it at some point or another. Maybe on one of the "not so bad" days, you can break it.
Meds are not for everbody.
I think the best therapy (and I have over 10 years experience with it) is to talk to people in similar situtations, with depression and anxiety. It helps to KNOW there are so many other people out there feeling the same way. You don't feel so isolated. (And you KNOW you are probably the one isolating yourself).
I also tried a yoga class once a week. Was hesitant because of the anxiety of trying something new (out of my element). Once I did it, I was like "OH my god, I've been missing out on this all of this time???" Now I live for my once a week class. It has helped me tremendously.
One more thing... There is a really awesome book called The Four Agreements. It can be found in the self help section by Don Miguel Ruiz. Sounds silly, but this book is short, to the point, and can change your negative thoughts just like that. I plan on buying this book for many people this Christmas.
Best of luck to you !!

You are thirty and now have no reason to collapse. Remember you have a right to live even if others hate you. Depression is about expectations that are unreal in life. Your brain is punishing you as per the Creator's plan. When you worry unto a panic take time to stop and hear God. You missed the real bad stuff in life and you are almost all groan up. Your happiness is in you and you don't want the happiness of the winners. Take time to read here the words of some you feel are more mature and let the info seep into the memory for later use. Remember what you have now millions also have had before you even if we are a minority.

Christy, your problem is your situation. You work from home, have 2 children, and a husband with a chronic disease. You are overwhelmed. You need to let the doctor know and he will give you some medication for depression and anxiety. Be careful because those meds make you sleepy. You probably have no social life. You need to sit down and take a deep breath. Make yourself a schedule and also find a way to make time for yourself alone. maybe hire a babysitter. If you need assistance with your husband, get him a home health aid to help out.
I will pray for you....hang in there...

doctors won't help unless you really want and NEED the help (it's funny because I want to be a psychologist myself) but anyway there are a lot of factors that influence depression... one of them is your age, if you are still a teenager then trust me this is what all teenagers go through and as you get older it does get better I know it from experience. Don't think about your feelings too much, the more you do the more flaws u'll find. Try to get involved in more activities, excercise, go out with friends, do something you love doing but stop being by yourself cuz this gives u time to think about your problems. The less u think the less u worry, get busy! eventually u'll forget about your problems. Exercising is one of hte best medicines, it has been proven that this stimulates your happiness. Stop focusing on the problem and find a solution, sometimes u just have to clear your mind and relax... I know what you're going thru but it will pass trust me...

I felt like that for a while.....it was horrible.

Take the natural way..don't pay "doctors" to help you find your TRUE self.

What you need to do is get out of there for a while...not one day but maybe two, the beach if you like something cool, the forest or mountains if you are an enviromentalist...like me..

Quit your routine, do something fun and spontaneous.

Try not to think of your FUTURE, leave that to someone more powerful.

Maybe change somethings in your life...redecorate your room. Or listen to another type of music or even take a dance class.

Live as if your morals were your daily life guidelines.

Find your inner self and treasure that... don't treasure materials, because one day when you really "need" them they won't be there.

If you believe that there is a god and he or she is powerful, stay with your belief and meditate or pray as whenever you want it.
That will help. He or she will be your guide.

Try these things step by step...don't just jump to it all, because that won't be of much help

That is all I have to say.
Hope that the rest of your days are good ones.
PEACE

Ok, you have a sever depression and a inferiority complex. I was just like you, I was so afraid to even ask my parents for any additional school books. I eventually tried stealing, got caught was trashed. It made me worse. the fear got even more bad and i started living an unsocial reclusive life. I however had a helper in my family who listened me out and finally gave me all the moral boosting to take charge of my life. I was 23 then and still living in parents fear. I even tried commiting suicide, but i learned no medicine no amount doctor treatment can help me unless i decide to help myself. I moved away from my parents, and avoided going to their place very often. I made some good frnds and started confiding in a couple of em. my frnds were starong personalities who gave me only good energy. It is very easy to get into a bad company in times like this, but i choose to stay away and slowly decided to take charge of life. I am a worrier too even now, but i have learnt to find solutions embrace the situations. Please don't get into any medications and stuff like that they are just temporary relievers. The person who can help you is yourself. believe in yourself immensly and know that you can make a lot of diff in many people's life, which you are already making.... as you said you have 3 kids. once you know your worth you will stop worrying as much as you do now and will learn to confront any situations confidently

Check your diet. Make sure that you have enough nutrition.
If the food present to you is repulsive, try a vegetarian diet.
Eat less sugar and salt. Avoid hunger.

Communicate with your cells in your body. Say kind words to
them silently. Surf the net for constructive topics.

Go see your doctor...

It is a shame in a society such as the world is that one can not find anyone close to talk to and needs to either pay someone or go to strangers for this kind of help.....
