Have a friend who blows her nose anywhere and everywhere (doesn't wash her hands afterwards either). She does it during or right after dinner (at the table), while cooking, while just sitting around the kitchen table (like after dinner). My family is very germ concious and gets grossed out. I've mentioned to her that she should leave the room for major nose blowing, but it didn't seem to sink in. Is my family just too picky? ... no pun intended.

Okay ... so how to I make her stop? Or should I just stop inviting her over or stop going over to her house. When she begins to wonder why, then tell her again?

I have lunch daily with a co worker who ends up blowing her nose every single day while we are eating. It is so disgusting yet I don't have the heart to say anything. For a long time, now, I will put my fork down and wait until she is done. She blows anywhere from 5-10 times, going through about 5 Kleenex. I am NOT kidding. Another friend does the same thing and she says she's allergic to hot food.
But my coworker doesn't eat hot food but it obviously triggers some nasal issues! Still, it's so gross. If I need to blow my nose, I always excuse myself and go into a different room, hopefully where nobody is within eye and ear shot. To me, it's basic common courtesy.
I'll never understand how someone isn't aware and/or doesn't care.

I keep hoping she will pick up on the fact that I stop eating but she hasn't. It's so incongruent with her otherwise, very mannerly behaviors.
It grosses me out every time. I could quit having lunch w/ her but I enjoy the daily break and great conversation.
There have been times I just couldn't stand the thought of another lunch hearing snot shooting out of her nose while I'm try to eat my soup, or salad so I've made excuses for not eating with her.

A few times as I see her reach for the Kleenex box and set it on the table we are eating on, I have made an excuse to leave the room for a minute then return.

This has been going on for years.
I know........it's my problem for not speaking up.

It's not the best of manners, but most of us can appreciate the need a person has to clear his or her nose when it's stopped up.

The polite thing to do is excuse oneself and go to a rest room, blow the nose and wash the hands. I wouldn't worry too much about the germs--mine are big enough to whip anyone else's--but it is a bit rude.

I don't know how to get this across to her other than to be very firm about it and suggest she might not be invited again if the practice continues. How good a friend is she? If she is a dear friend you might want to just accept this as her main flaw and hope yours aren't as bad. If she is not a dear friend you may simply want to not invite her to join you.

Definitely a big no no...
Excuse yourself for a while and then blow your nose quick...
Go to the john or to a corner...
Wash your hands...
We are talkin about food here...
As for her...
Have a little chit chat with her telling how you dislike it...
Or maybe...
You can talk about good manners all together after eating to make her know about it... Kinda nasty but it can work

Why in the world is she doing it so often?? She must have a health or pyschiatric condition, and does not realize she does it. If this person is a real friend of yours, just tell her it is grossing people out and to please leave the room. It is just plain disgusting ill-mannered behavour, BUT she may not realize she does it so often in the wrong places.

it is quite dealt with in diverse procedures in diverse cultures. as an occasion, in Japan, the English translation for "to blow ones nostril" is quite "nostril waste". So the jap view it as different actual waste purposes. on the different hand, enable's settle for it. i might quite have somebody that blows their nostril on the dinner table, quite than "sniffling" for an hour and inflicting a protracted term nuisance. individually, i admire warm extraordinarily spiced meals. issues with lots of peppers and different spices. the only hassle is, those issues additionally reason my sinuses to start to run like mad. How do I handle it? I generally excuse myself from the dinner table and then flow someplace inner maximum to blow my nostril. notwithstanding if I could excuse myself 2 or thrice for the time of a a million hour meal, i think of it is maximum suitable. for somebody older and with decreased mobility, i think of the right element to do is to coach ones chair far flung from the table for a 2d. Blow the nostril. and then turn returned in direction of the dinner table. it is what my father used to do at abode, and it looked completely first rate. the element is, you do no longer want to "contaminate" the table, flatware or meals with your "germs". So, turning approximately and intently looking after a dripping sinus works nicely.

She must be a real 'doozie'.
You must be tolerant to a fault; most people would have eighty-sixed her before this.
Her atrocious habit is right up there with nose-picking.
