The roof comes down in a very sharp way like an up side down v but i can walk around, would I have to build a shed roof?

If your walls and ceiling are not finished, then you should use sheet-rock to cover the rafters and insulation and wiring. You could put in dormers to get more floor space and windows for sunlight. You could push a wall back some into the side part of the attic to make room for dressers or other furniture to keep the floor space larger. This is assuming that you can stand up in the room.

If this area is unfinished now, you could check your local codes to see what guidelines they have for converting an attic. In my area, you need to make sure that the existing floor joists/lower floor ceiling framing meets the code for adequate support of a living space above it. If it was built to be an "attic" then it might not be. Most attic rooms that have the slanted ceilings have what they call knee walls on either side. Rule of thumb is that any knee wall shorter than approx 54" is useless space. Shorter than that and it's hard to move furniture up against it or sit up in a chair without banging your head. Think about how you are going to get up there if there isn't already a full staircase up to it. You need enough room to move furniture up into it too. Common sense. You also need to consider the ceiling/roof insulation factors. If you are going to make it livable space it needs to be insulated as such. So you'll need at least 9"-10" of insulation or a minimum rating of R-25. Check your local codes on this also. So you need to have the proper depth for the insulation PLUS an airspace above it of at least an inch with baffles to allow air flow and adequate air circulation. This means that the ceiling height will be dropped down and the floor height raised up. Take these items into consideration and then make the decision if there is enough room to walk around and function in there. You could contact a local contractor and have him do an estimate for remodeling of this area. Most will give free estimates. Make sure and check references. Some "contractors" will tell you what you want to hear just to get the job. Do a little research first. Your home is your biggest investment in your life in most cases. You'd hate to half-*** it part way through. Good luck to you.

If there is already a large room you shouldn't have to tear off the roof. You will need easy access to this discovered space. That will require losing some space to a stairway.

You might be able access it from an outside staircase or a "pull-down" stairway installed in a hallway if you have space.
