It's hard to say.
Onions are good thinly sliced in salads or sandwiches or cooked with roast beef. Or fried onion rings - Yummy!
Garlic is a good flavoring, but it's so potent that I use it sparingly. I might add a small clove to a pot of chili. And no pasta sauce recipe is complete without it.
For Parmesan-Garlic Bread:
Sprinkle a little bit of garlic powder & grated parmesan cheese on buttered French bread slices & toast in oven (about 400) until brown (about 10 min). Serve with your favorite pasta dish.

Onions are more versatile. But, I love garlic also. My absolute favorite, which is a cross between the two, are shallots. Use just like onions or garlic. Buy them at Asian markets where the price per pound is much cheaper.

Ironically I love them both.
Until age 25- I could not stand the smell, taste or even eat anything with an onion or garlic on or in it. I would literally get sick (barf). Weird huh>
Well I "detoxed" and was a vegetarian for 18 months and 6 months into it, I could eat them and then LOVED them.. I can't eat enough garlic.
Its the best part of my cleansing products, it really works for the immune system.

I like both too but garlic is the best. Cut finely, spread it raw on some lettuce and tomatoes (and some other vegetables), salt it lightly and enjoy...
