Do you have to be a certain age to have this procedure ? cuz im 16 and i've got quite a few acne scars all over my face that over the counter products dont seem to be able to fix and im really considering microdermabrasion..and do the dermotologists see this as sort of a last resort ? like will they try to convince me to give the products more time ?

No certain age but let me give you a suggestion. This procedure will burn off layers of skin making it painful and it takes days to heal and for the redness to go away. The best thing i ever used for acne and acne scars was doctor varon's skin bleaching system.I used to get cystic acne and after 2 weeks on this i had clearer skin than ive ever had.Look it up on, http://www.drugstore.com , you can also read reviews there.Dont consider micrderm until youve tried gentler products! Hope this helps.

There isn't a minimum age. But whether you're a "good candidate" is something important to consider, in addition to the cost. Usually a series of 6 or more treatments are required to get good results. At approximately $100 each, you're looking at about $600.

You may want to begin by using less expensive, over the counter treatments that have Glycolic Acid and/or Salicylic Acid (sounds harsh, but they're safe). Vitamin C is also useful in healing scars.

Good luck!
