I believe very strongly in separation of church and state. And, yes, I'll take a president that has sexual liaisons but in a keen diplomat over an idiot who is beholden to oil, needs to best his daddy, and drags this country into "pre-emptive" war any day.

Our "loving" god doesn't actually measure our performance. He doesn't care if we're good or evil, he only cares that you accept Jesus. You could be a nasty person, and if you believe that you're following the bible and you're doing everything bible says to do, you're saved. Unfortunately all Christianities disagree as to what bible tells you to do... Some think getting rich is a sin (jesus gave up all possessions) , others think getting filthy rich is not. Some care about life on Earth, some completely disregard it as just a stepping stone for life in heaven. etc... So it's not like Christians agree on this either. They have the "ultimate" truth in front of them, but somehow can't agree on any of it. Makes no sense when they claim concepts like "ultimate" morality, since they are divided into many "relative" fashions, and openly disagree among themselves.

Yes, if they're keeping condoms from being freely distributed. Yes, if they're putting obstacles to the investigation of aids, so they can keep calling it a divine punishment for gays (even though it's obvious now it isn't). Yes, if some of the people the conservatives are favouring are members of the companies that hold the greatest pharmacologic companies...

And, yes. I AM 'American', because I am from Argentina, which IS in America, the continent. Now, if you mean from the USA, then no, I'm not.

Yes I agree, but don't worry about it. They abused the power and have caused far too many people too much suffering. Watch the shift start this election. My dear old daddy used to tell me that any extreme is just as bad as the other, so the goal of most Americans should be to stop the political pendulum from swinging too far either way.

Is that why they've succeeding in doing nothing the last decade (thank goodness)?!

Do you see prayers in school again?

Do you see divorce laws changed to only adultery?

Do you see fornication laws being re-instituted?

Fact, in the last decade marriage has dropped to under 50% in America. Less than 50% of the people (90% of whom claim to be Christians) are not married.

Fact, your Ultra Conservative Methodist Leader Bushey tried to get rid of Social Security, but UNLIKE the more moderate Ronald Reagan did NOTHING about the WELFARE state that pays unmarried people to make babies.

Speaks a lot about good Christian values and Family Values in America today, eh!

And we have Bushey to thank for this! A good Texas Methodist boy!

Of course, we have yet to see what his Supreme Court will do!

I do. I can't wait until the GOP is out of power.

I pray every day that the Dems will not bow to the religious pressure and will in fact maintain that god doesn't exist. Amen.

Please bring back rationality and civil rights.

If that's true then I suggest that those that aren't ultra conservative stop complaining and get out and vote.

Too much influence? America was founded on Christianity. Anyone who believed different can get out.

Their influence may be overrated, and may well be reduced by the upcoming election.
