I make them all the time -- they are a favorite of one of my professors -- and hey, anything that helps!
The recipe was handwritten and given to me, so I don't know its origin:
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp cream of tartar.
Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add egg, mix, then add vanilla. Sift together dry igredients and add to wet ingredients. Chill dough for 30 minutes, then roll into walnut sized balls, roll in cinnamon sugar, and bake, 375 for 8-10 minutes on an ungreased non-stick cookie sheet. Cool on pan, then remove to wire rack.
Enjoy!
