We adopted a dog from the OC shelter and the previous owner said he was half pit bull and half American Bull Dog, but he is ALL white and weighs 80 lbs - not typical for a pit bull. Thanks.

American Bulldogs are much larger than pit bulls. We have several and one of our female is just shy of 90 pounds. Males can get as large as 130 pounds. They are usually mostly white, but can have some spots of color. Their faces are more rounded and they have larger jowls.

The size you are describing is very typical of a AM. Bulldog (not to be confused with the much smaller and shorter English Bulldog, which is what someone above is thinking of.)
Just do a search for American Bulldog images. You will be able to see some.

American Bulldogs are a bully breed, same as a pit bull. American bulldogs are generally taller than pits and just as muscular. There are 2 body types for american bulldogs. one is similar to a pit, with a short snout and the other tpe has a longer pointed nose. Mine is pure white, he's got a blunt snout with a cute under bite. He weighs in at about 100 lbs. He's also half deaf. Most white animals have hearing problems.

American Bull Dog? I thinking perhaps a bull terrier. They are all white and have a pointed face, where a pit bull has a squarer face. They might also mean an American Pit Bull, also known as a staffordshire terrier. These are a large version of the breed which would stack up to the 80lbs you speak of.
