I suggest that you put an ad in the local newspaper and perhaps make a website to go along with it. I just moved, and I'm trying to find a stylist, and I check websites a lot. Be sure to include if you're a specialist with anything (like curly hair).

My daughter is a hairdresser and when she leaves to go another place she'll have buisness cards made. Also she s always booked up.You'r clients should tell others how good you are and give you a try. Remember "word of mouth" is always good advertising Pass out some of your store's buissness cards or have some made at www. vista prints.com and pick your own card to do, then pass them out.

Do you have a local newspaper? Place an ad and offer 20 percent or half off a hair cut to new clients, or a free product or whatever your salon and you can up with. Have cards printed out with your name, pass them out to eveyone you know. Have a 'punch card' -- with a 'get three (or five or ten) servies, get one free (or half off).

Start asking your clients to refer their friends. If they like what you do they will be happy to send people in to you. Some people don't think about referrals, but if you ask for them, they will. Others may think that you are too busy to take new clients, so you have to let them know that you WANT them to send people to you. Also, if you offer an incentive for referrals (Example: for every 3 referrals you get a free cut) then they will want to work for that incentive.

actually if you are good at what you do then word of mouth is the best form of advertisement, you may have to step your game up start doing some innovative, creative styles and see what happens. If all else fails put out discount advertisements in your local penny-saver, value-pak, etc.

Try using the referal method. If someone refers you they may get a discount on their next visit. Or if your up to it try a half price day. Everyone gets their hairdone for half price. Or even children between 5yrs old and 10 get their hair done for free for one visit along with a paying adult.
