Ohhhh boy are you in trouble. If humanity is only 6000 years, and we were created by God...then if your mother in law is 7000 years old... I guess that makes you the son-in-law of God!

pity the creationists. they are fanatics.
they dont like change, but evrything in them and around them changes over time.
change from one stage to another is proof of life. evolution is changing from lower to higher form of life.
there are other religions whose scriptures talk about human life dating back closer to a million years.
all civilizations are older than biblical religions.
carbon dating is a proven method, if not accurate it is able to give an approximate figure.
even bible is silent on the exact date, month, year of creation. if it is authentic, atleast it could have recorded an approximate date. with a bit help from carbon dating method we could have narrowed down to a more specific period.
why god chose israel to be his holy land. everything unholy is happening in that place. there were much better places on this planet than israel at that time.

The oldest stars in our galaxy are grouped in globular clusters, estimated to be about 12 billion years old. We know the universe can't be any younger than the oldest stars in it.
As for your M.I.L., we know she can't be any older than Socrates and he's long gone. Maybe she's only 2000 years old but has lived a hard life?

Christianity is not an argument against carbon dating.
Jesus Christ said that He speaks in parables. Pay attention to detail. If God speaks in what is essentially God's own metaphors, then is the creation story about this small globe?
