I named my cat Dyna... Like the cat from Alice and Wonderland. He's 1/2 siamese ( and soooooo cute!) Only thing is - he's a he. Every time I refer to Dyna as "Dyna", everyone asks if he's a she. Is Dyna a girls name? ... Cause the Dyna in Alice and Wonderland sure looks like a dude to me. Give me your thoughts.

Names are so different to comprehend. I don't know if Dyna in Alice in Wonderland is male or female. But, look at these examples.

I have a male cousin named Connie. To me Connie is definitely a girls name. My mother told me that Connie used to be a males name. Could've fooled me.

What about Terry, that could easily be a girl or boy who knows? My mother has a female dog named Charli. It all depends on the spelling and your mood I assume.

To me, if I just seen Dyna, I'd think Dynomite, which would make me think of a male. I knew a guy in college named Diamond, real name. If I didn't know him, I would think female.

Anyway, you name your cat anything you like and don't worry what everyone thinks. Correct them and tell them it's a he and do they have a problem with that?

When you say Dyna, people may think you said Dinah, which is certainly a female name. I only remember the Wonderland story in general.

We can name our pets whatever we want! A name doesn't need to sound feminine or masculine. I know a feline named "Baby Stupid Cat" - yes, it is a little lame, but he's just not intelligent - it was someone's idea to name him that. I also know a cat named Charles - "Chuckie" for short. Chuckie is a girl. They just didn't know what the sex of the kitten was until "Charles" got older.
So be it! :)
Dyna... now, why is that a female name? Could be short for Dynamite, right?
What is the purpose of knowing whether the cat is male or female? Are they in a breeding program?
Probably not.
I think you should name your kitty whatever name FITS - "Dyna" sounds like you put a lot of thought into his name... Do what feels right!:)

I think the cat in Alice in Wonderland is a boy but my friends little sisters name is Dyna! You could call it "Dyn" or "Dyno" as like a nickname that sounds more like a boy

It's a girls name, but it's okay. I named one of my cats Mitzi [too me it's a girly name] and found out it was a male. Sadly Mitzi died back in July, he was stray cat when I found him and I didn't know he was sick. But anyway if you like Dyna for your male cat, you don't have to change it. Just think of all those names people call their kids[ like Apple]. Or mothers that name their kids boy names like Bobby because they thought they where having a boy, and it turned out to be a girl. It's your cat and you should name him what you like.
