Does the name Adelaide have any negative conotations? or is it culturally biased(it is Hebrew in origin)? Is it a good name for a child, while still being unique?

I love it. It always makes me think of one of my favorite songs (Adelaide by Ben Folds). It is a bit old fashioned, very unique, and I also think Addy is a sweet nickname.

I think it's a nice name. The only negative thing that I can think of is that it does remind me a bit of the word addled which means to become rotten or to become confused.

However, if you plan to call her Addy, I think a lot of the uniqueness of the name will be minimized. Madeline (#69 last year), Madelyn (#109), Madeleine (#334), Madalyn (#356 - and there are 3 more less popular spellings in the top 500!), Madison (#3, so very popular), and Abigail (#4, also very popular), and Addison (#107) are all more popular than Adelaide and they all add up to a LOT of little Maddies, Abbies, and Addies running around the playground. Just something to consider...although Adelaide is a nice, traditional, and uncommon name it does sound very similar to some of these names that are trendy at the moment.

I think that this is a very unique name, but it almost sounds like a type of drink or medicine... Gateraide or altoids? Something like that. I really like the first part of the name, but the aide part I think would be better if it were tweaked. Maybe Adelaine or... Adelas? Good luck with your new baby girl!

Adelaide might want to be perfect, as Ada sounds extra like a nickname, and frequently the meanest youthful ones will locate something incorrect with the call Ada, no longer that I somewhat have something adversarial to it. desire this helps!

I like the name and I especially like the nick name Addy. Although, I think of lemonade when I hear the name. What about Addison or Adeline?

I like it a lot. I think it is pretty and it reminds me of Guys and Dolls, but I doubt most people will think of that.

The only thing to think about is if you want to call her Addy/Addie. I think Addison is a very up and coming name, so there might be a lot of Addys in her class.

It is a very nice name. It was very common many years ago. It seems that alot of the names used years ago are coming back into popularity.
