One of the papillae (visible bumps that taste buds are attached to) is white, swollen and tender. It's really disgusting. I keep cutting them off but they just grow back somewhere else.

What exactly are these? How do i get rid of them?

Exactly what you said they were! Very good! Now, stop cutting them off! Rinse your mouth with gargling peroxide or a salt water rinse, when this happens. It happens to lots of people. Maybe there is something your Doctor could give you to cut down on the frequency!

Dear Joanna
This could be more than just a bump on the tongue. If I were the one w/ this thing on my tongue I wouldn't be waiting for someone to come across my question on the internet to find the answer.
Unless u are lucky enough that a doctor could be reading your question ...... Just go to the doctor Before it turns worse.

Don't cut them off, you could cause an infection. I'd see a doctor.

Good Luck!
