Ginger juice specially has a lot of medicinal value. mix it with equal portions of honey and drink it and you will get rid of your cough. Alhough it is not easy to extract ginger juice, i usually use 2 methods. Grate them using the finest side of your grater and wrap it in a very thin porous cloth and squeeze the juice. . or you can just cut the ginger into small pieces and wrp them in a thin porous cloth. pound them and then squeeze the juice. pounding ginger will release all the juice. make sure you get fresh ginger from the market. to identify, just try and scrap the ginger skin with hand, it has to be thin and shud come out easily exposing the juicy inside. This however will help in extracting only a couple of spoons of ginger juice. I have however never tried to extarct more than this, but in many countries where people have sugarcane juice, they use the same machine to extract ginger juice. the machine has 2 cylinderical heavy drum placed closed to each other. the sugarcane or ginger is run in between them and the juice fall through. I have had Sugarcane juice in India with a dash of ginger juice and it tastes yummmm.... also seen people making it the machine is quite heavy but very cool

Yeah! I got a family history TOO but I don't post in on the world stage for all to see at 1:30 in the morning. Get a life. Then get some vodka and orange juice and make yourself a Screwdriver. OR, try some 180 proof moonshine and orange juice. That is called a Hammer. By dawn you'll have a complete tool box and no idea as to how to use any of them.

I suspect you would wreck a home appliance trying to get juice, there isn't that much in ginger I think. Would it not be easier and cheaper to buy it?
I've only ever seen it done with those commercial juice-bar machines

A juicer would be useless.

There is not enough liquid in ginger root for a juicer to work.

Your best bet is to make a ginger extract. There are several methods.

Below are links to two methods.

Buy a micro plane or use the super small side of your grater, then strain it.
