ok you fill the 3 oz can and pour it in the 5 oz can then do it again what is left in the 3 0z can is 1 oz, so then you pour the 5 oz can out, pour the 1 0z that is left in the 3 oz can into the 5 oz can, then fill the 3 oz can up again, there you have it 2 cans, 4 ozs.

you take 5oz can and pour to 3 oz can than you left with 2 oz in the can and do it again the same another 2oz left 2 +2 =4 oz,

fill the 3oz can to capacity, pour the contents into the 5oz can. Then fill the 3oz can again 1/3 of the way full and pour those contents into the 5oz can......you should end up with 4oz......
